Thank you to all the voters in Perry Township for your support and taking the
time to help elect Chuck Mercer, Ken Mertz, and me to the Perry Township School
Board! This has been a long and challenging battle, and the efforts of many
volunteers made possible this positive change for MSDPT. I would especially like
to thank the TBPS organization, the teachers and the Perry Township firefighters
for their unwavering support during our campaign. I look forward to
serving all members of our Perry Township community. As we pledged during our
campaign, I welcome your comments and concerns about Perry schools. Beginning in
July, I look forward to restoring your pride in our school system and rebuilding
your trust in the school board. And again, THANK YOU!!
I have called Perry Township home for nearly sixty years, graduating from
Southport High School in 1965. My daughter was also educated in the Perry
Township schools.
I am a business improvement specialist for Rolls-Royce Corporation in
Indianapolis. I specialize in information technology, quality processes, and
health, safety, and environmental issues. As an administrator, my role is to
find better business practices which effect lower costs, reduce effort, and
promote higher success rates. In addition, for over ten years, I served as
president of the Board of Trustees for a non-profit community home-owners
association in Perry Township. My role required hiring good managers and
managing a working budget of over $100,000. Therefore, I have first- hand
experience in money management and work allocation.
Since the fall of 2006, I have actively followed the activities of the MSDPT
school board. In dismay, I have watched the current school board majority embark
on a destructive agenda which demonstrated illogical mismanagement and a blatant
disregard for the concerns of teachers, administrators and the community. As a
taxpayer, parent, grandparent, and community volunteer, I strongly believe we
need a change in direction to re-charge our commitment to effective management.
We must restore pride in the school district’s leadership and rebuild trust in
the school board process.
Thus, I am running for a seat on the MSDPT school board to effect a change in
direction. I bring experience in business, money management, community affairs,
and I enjoy strong ties to Perry Township. I care deeply about how the decisions
of our school board will impact the quality of education for our children and
how those decisions will affect the citizens and taxpayers of our township.
I respectfully ask that you join in my mission to rebuild trust and restore
pride in our school board leadership. Please vote for me to represent you as an
effective school board member.
Please contact me at gwen@freeman2008.com to let me know your thoughts and concerns.
Thank you!

Estates Condominiums for 10 years. She is intelligent, a hard worker, has lots
of good common sense and showed dedication to the job. She was born and raised
